Fleurage

I love finding unique gifts for family and friends. And I love it even more when the entire shopping experience is just plain fun!

Recently, I had the best time buying a gift for a close friend at the bespoke, natural perfumery Fleurage, which is located in the suburb of South Melbourne.

The store is just spectacular. It is worth a visit just for the Art Deco fit out alone. And the attention to detail devoted to packaging and gift wrapping has to be seen to be believed.

But, naturally, most people would visit for the perfumes. Their website suggests that Fleurage was created to re-establish the lost art of European (specifically French) perfume making. As a result, you can choose from a beautiful range of botanical fragrances or, if you prefer, you can create your own fragrance (with guidance from the perfumer, of course).

The service I received while I was picking and choosing was as special as the rest of the experience – this was despite the fact that, after all my umming and ahhing, I ended up buying a voucher for my friend. (Like that wasn’t always going to happen…scent is such a personal choice!! That said, buying the voucher means that both of us will experience the joy of visiting the store.)

I must say that I hadn’t expected to find such an excellent, French styled shopping experience so close to home.  I’d definitely recommend a visit if you are ever in the area.

Until next time – au revoir.
