Finding French Style Inspiration

Finding French Style Inspiration

Long-time Distant Francophile readers will know that it has been ages since I shared one of my ‘Finding French Inspiration’ posts.

My reasons for moving away from creating this form of content were many and varied. And they ranged from wanting to provide relevant pieces for newcomers to Distant Francophile through to overthinking what type of articles you might all be interested in.

However, the primary reason for my abandoning the regular inspiration posts was the time I wasted putting them together. I’m sure you don’t need me to let you know that the internet can be one big rabbit hole if you let it. I would sit down to ‘research’ pieces for the posts and then resurface hours later having spent a lovely time reading whatever took my fancy, but not necessarily finding one single thing that might be helpful for the Distant Francophile community.

Finding French Style Inspiration

But just because I didn’t go deliberately looking for it anymore, didn’t mean that I wasn’t paying attention to the different inspiring French bits and pieces that I would find from time to time. And when I came across this RACKED piece thanks to Diane from Oui in FranceI knew I had to share it. Anything that provides links to a whole lot of French girl information, insights into where our obsession with that information comes from and includes gorgeous illustrations is too good to keep to myself. The article also references How To Be Parisianclick here to read my review of that book. And, you can find out where to buy it here.

So, now that I’ve started…

Classic French Style

Dior lovers the world over are being treated at the moment, as the famous fashion house celebrates its 70th anniversary. Unfortunately, I’ll not be able to make it to Christian Dior, Couturier Du Rêve, which is being held at Paris’ Musée des Arts Décoratifs until early next year. However, I will be able to attend the National Gallery of Victoria’s Dior exhibition which is being staged in Melbourne. I am counting down the days until the official opening of the exhibition at the end of August – and I’m sure I am not the only one who just can’t wait.

Pack Like A French Woman

It’s horribly cold in Melbourne at the moment, and I’m feeling awfully jealous of all those people on Instagram who are holidaying somewhere warm. If I was heading poolside I could take some advice from either this piece or from the team at Atelier Doré. For the record, I’m a fan of Eres swimwear (maillots for me, rather than bikinis), K Jacques sandals and Ray-Ban Wayfarer sunglasses (my Dad bought me my first pair when I was just 16 years old), all of which are mentioned in the articles.

And For The Gentlemen

Finally, here is a little French style inspiration for the men in our lives from the fabulous My French Life™. Enjoy!

Have you discovered any French style inspiration recently? If so I’d love for you to share it in the comments section. And if you would like me to bring back the ‘Finding French Inspiration’ pieces more regularly, feel free to let me know. Again, simply post your thoughts in the comments section below.

Until next time – au revoir.
