Frenchify Your Friday – Number 36

French crepes

This week’s Frenchify Your Friday is all about French crêpes.

I know. I know. I can’t believe that I haven’t suggested that you Frenchify Your Friday with a classic crêpe yet either. Especially when you consider how yummy and quintessentially French they are.

To my mind, crêpes rival crème brûlée as my favourite French dessert. And there is something particularly fun about a dessert that also doubles as Parisian street food.

Personally, I can’t go past crêpes au sucre et au citron. Yes, plain old lemon and sugar. But it seems somewhat more special if you say it in French.

Of course there are many popular flavours available. Chocolate is always a winner, as is banana. Or try them together if you like. Scott prefers rum. And salted caramel is always a favourite.

The best news is that crêpes are incredibly easy to make at home. All you need is flour, eggs and milk – and recipes are really easy to find on the internet.

As an added bonus, no special equipment is required if you are making crêpes at home. Yes, I’m a sucker and we’ve purchased special crêpe pans and makers – but at the end of the day all you’ll need to create your own crêpes is a bowl, a whisk and a decent frypan!

All the best for a fabulously tasty Friday.

And until next time – au revoir.

    This does bring back memories.
That’s all the kids wanted for lunch in Paris; a Nutella crepe.
The collar of my 8 year old’s jacket (as he was then) had smudges of Nutella on it until we got home and it could be washed.
How is it little boys manage to get more around their mouths than in them.
The ham and cheese ones made a tasty lunch as well.

My favorite combination has always been Nutella and coconut flakes. Mmm. Brings me back to my younger days when we’d get crêpes from any random crêperie on the way home from a night out. 🙂
