Frenchify Your Friday – Number 31

Frenchify your Friday with vin chaud

For this week’s edition of Frenchify Your Friday I was really keen to find an idea that not only delivered a little bit of French inspiration into everyone’s day but also helped to get us all into the Christmas spirit.

And there is really only one option for a brief like that!

The French Christmas market classic – vin chaud.

Vin chaud is a yummy, fragrant wine based treat that you can make at home. The wine is infused with spices and, depending on the recipe you choose, sometimes contains cognac, brandy or port. It is served warm – which seems odd for those of us who celebrate Christmas in hot climates – but develops into a brilliant idea after you’ve tasted it.

Every version of vin chaud we tried on our recent trip tasted slightly different…I soon found out why when I started researching recipes. It seems that there is a vin chaud recipe to suit all tastes – it’s simply a matter of choosing the spices that suit you. To get you started you can check out recipes here, here and here.

No matter which rendition of vin chaud you choose, you’ll definitely bring a little bit of French Christmas to your day.

All the best for a fabulous Friday.

Until next time – au revoir.
